A benign growth or tumor is any mass of cells that forms on the surface of or just below your skin. Seborrheic keratosis is the most common variety of benign growth and usually presents as a brown growth that appears to be stuck to the skin. Other types of benign growths include birthmarks, skin pigmentation disorders such as hemangioma or port-wine stains, cysts, keloids, liver spots, freckles, moles, and skin tags.
Your Manhattan dermatologists will evaluate any benign growth to make sure it is not precancerous. From there, treatment can be provided through methods such as prescription-strength topical ointments or creams, as well as laser therapy, cryotherapy, or otherwise having the benign growth removed.
