Eczema is a general term encompassing several inflamed skin conditions including allergic contact dermatitis, atopic dermatitis and nummular dermatitis. Atopic dermatitis is a common form of eczema which occurs in both children and adults. Although its cause is unknown, the condition appears to be an abnormal response of the body’s immune system. Several triggers cause flares including rough materials in contact with the skin, heat/sweating, certain soaps, dust mites, and stress. While eczema cannot be cured, most cases can be controlled by making lifestyle modifications to prevent flare-ups and using medication to treat inflammation and itching. We offer many effective therapies to treat the different types of eczema including topical and oral medications.
