Warts are skin growths caused by a viral infection in the skin. There are several different kinds of warts including common warts, plantar (foot) warts, and flat warts. It is reasonable to have all warts treated since they can spread to other parts of the body and to other people. We offer a variety of treatments including salicylic acid, cryotherapy (freezing), or electrodessication (burning). Warts may also be treated by “painting” with cantharidin which causes a blister to form under the wart. For adults and older children cryotherapy (freezing) is generally preferred. For most methods, repeat treatments at one to three week intervals are often necessary. A final treatment that can have great success with recalcitrant warts involves the injection of Candida Antigen.
